A1 crash: Three dead and two others seriously injured after huge pile-up
Three people have died and more are seriously injured following a multi-car pile-up on the A1.
Police said three men aged 34, 25 and 38 died at the scene and two people were taken to hospital, where they remain with serious injuries.
The three-vehicle crash happened just before 1am on Sunday morning on the A1 northbound near Wothorpe, Cambridgeshire Police said, but details of the three tragic deaths have only just been released.
It comes after a fourth person was killed in a separate, four vehicle crash on the same road this morning.
Todays crash took place roughly 18 miles south of the Sunday tragedy, on the A1 at Sawtry.
The Sunday crash involved a blue VW Golf, a black BMW 520D and a red Land Rover Discovery. Police have yet to confirm which vehicles were involved in the fatal crash today.
Cambridge Police are appealing for dashcam footage to both incidents and asking that anyone who saw the vehicles in the moments leading up to the incident to get in touch.
People can contact the force on web chat, online forms or by calling 101 and quoting incident 24 of January 16 for the Sunday incident and incident 77 for the one today.
