Accrington Stanley 1-1 Sunderland: highlights and reaction as Black Cats stung by ten-man hosts
Lee Johnson cut a frustrated figure after admitting Sunderland 'wasted' another opportunity to take over at the top of League One.
The Black Cats conceded a late equaliser against ten-man Accrington Stanley, which meant they missed the chance to go top of the table for a third successive game, having also had chances at Wycombe last weekend and in midweek against Lincoln City.
The Accrington goal, scored by Mitch Clark, came seconds after a Sunderland corner and it was a missed clearance from Tom Flanagan that led to the move.
"I'm incredibly frustrated again," said Johnson.
"We have to understand, moving into the last however many games, that we have to put in 95-minute performances - it's as simple as that.
"We generally had good control, particularly after they went down to ten men, but that's where it gets frustrating for all of us.
"The fans were frustrated, but still supportive, because an opportunity to go top of the league has been wasted again."
