Legendary act confirmed to play massive Croke Park concert this summer

This is as part of the group's new tour, honouring their "50-year reign as the world’s greatest rock and roll band".

Legendary rock band AC/DC have been confirmed to play a major gig at Dublin stadium Croke Park this summer.

This will be the sixth concert to take place at the venue this year, with Coldplay already set to play four gigs at the Dublin venue between 29 August and 2 September.

This is while Bruce Springsteen will perform at the stadium for one night only on 19 May.

Known for their songs 'Back in Black', 'Highway to Hell' and 'Thunderstruck', AC/DC will come to the Irish capital on Saturday, 17 August as part of their Power Up European Tour.

"The Power Up tour, named for their latest studio album, which reached #1 in 21 countries, will see the band play 21 dates across Germany, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, England, Slovakia, Belgium and France with a final show at Croke Park on Saturday 17th August, subject to licence," an MCD statement reads.

"To honour their 50-year reign as the world’s greatest rock and roll band, AC/DC – Angus Young on lead guitar, vocalist Brian Johnson, rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, drummer Matt Laug and a new bass player to carry the torch for Cliff Williams - is back to play to their legion of dedicated fans, which grows with every passing year.

AC/DC had been rumoured to play Croke Park for months.

On their last two world tours, the Australian rockers stopped off in Ireland, playing the Aviva Stadium in 2015, as well as the now 3Arena and Punchestown Racecourse in 2009.

Tickets for the shows on the Power Up will be available from 9am on Friday, 16 February 2024.
