Everyone at Partick Thistle FC would like to pass on our thoughts and best wishes to former defender Alan Hansen, who is seriously ill in hospital.

Yesterday evening the club reached out to Alan’s family to offer our support as well as passing on the love and best wishes of all Thistle fans to Alan.

A David McParland signing for Thistle in 1973, Alan starred for Thistle 120 times including 10 goals and of course won the First Division Championship in season 1975/76. He enjoyed playing alongside his brother John at Firhill throughout his spell in Maryhill, and John is also in the thoughts of all at the club today.

Alan then earned a move to Liverpool under Bob Paisley, where he would earn iconic status – eight league championship trophies, three European Cups, five domestic cups, captaincy and some 26 caps for Scotland.

Everyone at PTFC is rooting for Alan and we will provide any further update when we can, while mindful that the Hansen family’s privacy is respected at this time.
