CORONATION STREET star Amanda Barrie has claimed she felt forced to stay in the closet for 20 years while working on the ITV soap.

Amanda had some memorable storylines during her time on the show, including a problematic marriage to the long-running character Mike Baldwin (Johnny Briggs), alongside a kidnapping, and a supermarket siege.
When she decided to finally leave the ITV soap in 2001, her character was killed off in a highly-controversial cervical cancer storyline.
Apart from her soap fame, Amanda has enjoyed a varied stage and TV career, even starring in two of the Carry On films.
In 2003, the star also played the role of Bev Tull in ITV’s prison drama Bad Girls.
Loose Women returns tomorrow at 12:30pm on ITV.
