A Very British Scandal Locations where the new BBC drama was filmed Wales Online

A Very British Scandal, the new drama from BBC One, is airing this Boxing Day and the three-episode series has some very fancy locations featured.

Unsurprising really, considering it's about a duke and a duchess (and the scandal which surrounds them).

The story focuses on the real-life divorce of the Duke (Wandavision's Paul Bettany) and Duchess of Argyll (The Crown's Claire Foy), one of the most notorious, extraordinary and brutal legal cases of the 20th century. You can read more on that here.

Other than Foy and Bettany, it's a recognisable British cast and there's more on that, here.

Now, here's more on the locations featured in the episodes of A Very British Scandal.

Amazingly, the production got to use the actual castle owned by the real Duke of Argyll, according to Conde Nast Traveller.

The 15th-century castle is on the edge of Loch Fyne in the Highlands and has also featured in Downton Abbey.

The scenic drive the couple take is at Glen Etive nearby the castle.

Rivoli Ballroom

The classic London ballroom in London's Crofton Park was used for some of the scenes where the action takes place on a night out.

London's hotels

Some scenes are meant to take place in The Dorchester and Claridges, but instead filming was done at Art Deco-styled The Sheraton Grand on Park Lane and Luton Hoo Estate in Bedfordshire, respectively.

An early meeting between the future duke and duchess takes place on a boat train - the Golden Arrow. They actually used the Golden Arrow which is now a part of the Bluebell Railway steam train experience. The actual filming was at Tenterden in Kent.

There are three episodes of the drama, which is set in the 1960s. To get the latest showbiz news from WalesOnline sent straight to your inbox sign up for our What's On newsletter here.
