Adele Roberts will be taking to the ice for the first time this weekend as she makes her Dancing on Ice debut.

The radio presenter and her professional partner Mark Hanretty will be performing a routine to Clearly by Grace VanderWaal and it sounds like rehearsals have already been quite tough.

Speaking exclusively to Virgin Radio UK about her Dancing On Ice experience so far, she joked: “Mark’s very strong and he’s managed to pop my ribs. And I’ve managed to stupidly break my wrist as well. So there’s been a big journey already.”

Mark also added: “I have really myself to blame for the gash on my right thigh because we've choreographed a lift [in the routine] that caused a bit of damage.”

Not to fear, the pair will be fighting fit to skate this evening (Sunday 21st January) and Adele cannot wait to get on the ice.

She said: “I feel like I’ve won a prize already just making it to the starting line of this show. It’s been a long journey to get here and I’m just grateful for every moment that I get to spend on the ice and spend with this man.”

Even though it has been a huge learning curve for Adele, she’s sought advice from some pretty impressive people who have done the show before, including Dam Kelly Holmes.

She revealed: “The only other person I know that has done the show is Dame Kelly Holmes, which is a big name for me to drop there. But she’s been great. She’s been really supportive and she just said, ‘Yes, it’s hard work but you’re going to enjoy it. You’re going to have the time of your life’.”

Week one of the competition saw the likes of Love Island’s Amber Davies, S Club 7’s Hannah Spearritt and boxer Ricky Hatton make their DOI debut on Sunday (14th January).

This week, Adele will be joined by Coronation Street’s Claire Sweeney; Eddie ‘the Eagle Edwards’; comedian Lou Sanders; Made in Chelsea’s Miles Nazaire; and EastEnders star Ricky Norwood, who will also be making their debut on the ice.

Dancing on Ice continues Sunday, 21st January, at 6:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
