Will there be a series 4 of After Life on Netflix?

The third series of After Life may have only just landed on Netflix but those who have binged all six episodes are wondering if more is to come.

Created by Ricky Gervais, the critically-acclaimed comedy-drama follows Tony, a writer for the local newspaper whose life is upended after his wife dies from cancer.

Whilst still struggling with immense grief for his wife, Tony starts to realise that making other people feel good is what can give him hope.

Ricky Gervais, Penelope Wilton, Ashley Jensen and Tom Basden all return for the third season, you can see the cast list in full here, but will there be a fourth instalment of After Life?

Here's what Ricky Gervais has said on the matter.

It doesn't look like it, no.

Speaking about series 3 on ITV's Lorraine last year, Ricky told the host: "That will be the final instalment.

"It's the first time I've done a third series of anything but it felt right and I fell in love with characters, I think this should be it."

It wasn't an easy decision, however, with Ricky telling Deadline that he "wishes" series 3 wasn't the last but he doesn't want it to "outstay its welcome"

He said: "It's a no-brainer I should do a fourth [season], I should do it in terms of economics and the audience would love it, everything points towards it except would series four be as good as the first three and actually better because it's no good for it to be just as good. I don't want it to outstay its welcome."
