Arsenal fans set off fireworks at 2am outside 'Manchester City's hotel' ahead of their huge game at Tottenham, but their ploy massively backfired.

Arsenal beat Manchester United 1-0 on Sunday to take the Premier League title race to the last day of the season.

But Man City could enter Sunday's league culmination at the top of the league if they beat Spurs tonight in a crucial fixture in the title race.

The Blues are currently one point behind the Gunners and have an inferior goal difference.

Spurs, meanwhile, are looking to chase down fourth-placed Aston Villa for the last Champions League spot.

But a victory over Pep Guardiola's charges could inadvertently give their cross-town rivals a chance to win their first league title since 2004.

The clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could have a strange atmosphere considering the ticket sales for the club's final home game of the 2023/24 campaign.

And ahead of Man City taking on Spurs, a group of Arsenal fans set off fireworks outside a hotel where they thought they were staying at for their league visit.

However, the defending league champions were NOT staying at the hotel and will arrive in London this morning, according to BBC's Simon Stone.

Speaking before tonight's clash, Ange Postecoglou dismissed the idea of his team losing on purpose.

"I understand rivalry. I was part of one of the biggest ones in the world in the last couple of years with Celtic and Rangers," he said.

"But I've never, and will never, understand if someone wants their own team to lose. That's not what sport is about. It's not what I love about the game."

Postecoglou reckons '100 per cent of Spurs supporters' want his side to win but said 'people are allowed to feel the way they do'.

However, the Australian boss said he has not 'lived my life' taking 'pleasure from other people's misery'.

He added: "Real success looks like trophies. Anything else in between, bragging rights, whatever, it is absolutely meaningless to me.

"What do you think is going to happen? What do you think we are going to do as a team, or any team on this planet? Aren't we going to just try to win? It's a simple premise. How that makes people feel, I'm not really fussed and I don't really care."
