I'm A Celebrity's Barry McGuigan in tears as he opens up on ...
Support has been flooding in for Barry McGuigan after he was seen breaking down in tears just hours after his exit from I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here. On Thursday night's episode (December 5), viewers saw Ant and Dec step into the camp to deliver news of a double eviction following an immunity challenge which halted the public vote.
Oti Mabuse clinched the immunity win ensuring her spot in the Celebrity Cyclone, leading to a surprise twist where Barry and Maura Higgins were told they had garnered the least votes, thus ending their jungle journey.
During his exit interview with Ant and Dec, they spoke about his bond with McFly's Danny Jones who considers Barry a "fatherly figure", with McGuigan commenting: "He's just such a lovely, great guy. I think he's going to be the king (of the jungle)."

The morning after on December 6, a refreshed Barry appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss his stint in the show with hosts Kate Garraway and Robert Rinder. The conversation turned tearful when the presenters brought up the poignant moment he shared with campmates about the loss of his daughter, Danika McGuigan, who passed away from bowel cancer in 2019 at 33.
During an emotionally charged exchange with Barry on the celebrities' hotel live video link, Rob queried, "A lot of people were really touched by the power of you talking about your grief. I want to ask you, how challenging was that and why should we talk about it? " Barry's raw response was heartfelt: "It's the single most devastating thing that's happened to me. Losing my daughter five years ago was dreadful and I've never recovered from it- me and my wife.", reports the Manchester Evening News.
He continued to reveal his journey through pain: "I'm getting better as time goes on. I used to not be able to talk about it at all but I know it's important I do talk about it. I know she's there somewhere. Her life was so sad, it all happened at the most important time of her life when things were looking great and she got cancer and she died."
Barry shared even more about his and his wife's lasting heartache: "Me and my wife have never really recovered from it and I don't think we ever will, but just time teaches us how to deal with it and Danny has had similar issues in his life..." As he struggled with his emotions, tears welling up, he offered an apology before Kate stepped in with compassion. "No I didn't want to interrupt you, I thought you had stopped because I thought there was a delay. We can see the emotion pouring out of you. We saw it when you were in there as well and everybody just wanted to hug you then and hug you now," she said, acknowledging his visible distress.
Kate questioned whether being in the jungle had aided him in opening up, leading Barry to reply: "In there, all you can do is talk... I've got this tattoo on my arm after Nika passed and it was Jane Moore who asked, 'Who's that lovely child? ' and that's all I needed."
He continued, "I find I choke up every time I talk about it and people say, 'get over it', but when you love somebody as much as I loved her, it's almost impossible. I try my best and in time it will get better but her passing and how terribly sad and how terribly painful it was, it's just so hard to cope with."
