'Partial parental FaceTime' Dan Walker addresses Christmas fail with parents

Partial parental FaceTime Dan Walker addresses Christmas fail with parents
DAN WALKER appeared to have had quite an interesting video call with his parents on Christmas Eve.

Dan Walker, 44, took to his Instagram page on Friday to post a screenshot of himself on a FaceTime call with his mum and dad. But it seemed the Strictly Come Dancing 2021 star's parents were having some difficulty operating their smartphone while seemingly failing to realise they were out of frame.

Clearly amused by the mishap of his mum and dad not realising their son could only see half of their faces, the BBC Breakfast host shared a screengrab of the awkward moment with his 266,000 followers.

"Just had a Christmas Eve FaceTime with the folks… at least I think it was them," he wrote alongside a crying of laughter emoji.

"One day I'm hoping they'll grasp the concept #PartialParentalFaceTime."

The post, which attracted north of 10,000 likes in a matter of hours, left fans in hysterics as his heap of supporters left their reactions in the comment section.

"So funny Dan, God bless them both! Merry Christmas Dan and beautiful family!" @siobhan.crossan wrote.

"People nationwide nod their heads as they recognise the exact same thing their parents do too," @sarahatkinsonphotography continued.

@margaretfowler16 chimed in with the jokes, saying: "I'm sure you enjoyed talking to them even if you didn't see them!"

Even Strictly judge Shirley Ballas left a remark, jesting that she, too, could relate to the post.

"I'll miss not going training with Nadiya today and learning a new dance and getting ready for the semi-final because that's been sort of the rhythm of my week for the last three months, bizarrely.

"But I'm just happy that it happened in the first place, so that's the way I'm looking at it."

His co-host Sally Nugent chimed in, saying she was just as proud of Dan for not quitting the series, considering the many hats he wears while juggling his hectic career.

"What makes me really proud is you have continued," Sally replied.

"You've worked here, you don't live in London, you've got three kids, lots of other demands, three jobs, a dog to walk every day, lots of people to look after.

"And you've still managed to fit all of this in which is incredible."

Earlier this month, Dan revealed he would not be participating in the Strictly tour next year due to his many work commitments.

After "spending so much longer on the actual show than I ever expected", the journalist said he would want to spend any of his free time next year in the comfort of his home.
