Birmingham New Street train chaos leaves passengers fuming

There is rail chaos at Birmingham New Street Station with travel disruption for commuters as we approach Tuesday's rush hour.

The rail delays and cancellations are expected to last all day and will impact on services out of Birmingham New Street.

The disruption is as a result of a broken-down train at Coseley earlier today.

Passengers are being warned that train delays of up to 75 minutes can be expected on services from Birmingham New Street station.

National Rail today tweeted: "Major disruption can be expected to trains at Birmingham New Street. Trains will be delayed by up to 75 minutes, cancelled or revised."

National Rail add: "The broken down train earlier today between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street has now moved. However congestion has built up due to the incident, and this is now causing major disruption to services at Birmingham New Street.

"Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 75 minutes or revised. We anticipate disruption to services will continue for the rest of today."

Social media users were furious over the chaos on October 29, with scores taking to Twitter to fume over the incident.

"How can a #train breaking down near Coseley affect #BirminghamNewStreet so incredibly badly that it brings the whole station to a halt!! More train problems! @bbcmtd " one passenger wrote.
