Boris Johnson dancing with a lightsaber leaves the internet in stitches

Boris Johnson dancing at a party with a lightsaber has resurfaced online after it emerged parties were held in Number 10 during the first coronavirus lockdown.

The Prime Minister was this week forced to issue an apology after it was revealed staff members held a "bring your own booze" bash in Downing Street.

Mr Johnson was forced to issue an apology in Parliament but told MPs he "believed implicitly that this was a work event".

A video showing the Prime Minister at a party - thought to have taken place nine years ago - has now emerged on social media as he boogies along to Lionel Richie's All Night Long (All Night).

Another party-goer the Prime Minister is boogieing with is holding a lightsaber.

Mr Johnson throwing shapes has now been viewed over 3.1 million times on Twitter with one user, @stimmo, captioning it with "I didn't know it was a party."

And social media has now been reacting to the Conservative leader's moves.

@99_redballoonz on Twitter said: "WARNING: this really is Boris Johnson dancing, it's not a deep fake, once viewed you can never unsee it. . . Oh my eyes. . . "

The spoof @Number10Cat account referred to the investigation into parties at Downing Street being run by Civil Servant Sue Gray.

They said: "Looking forward to the section in the Sue Gray report explaining that the presence of a lightsaber means a party is actually a Jedi work event…"

Other Twitter users made jokes about allegations one Downing Street staff member was sent to a corner shop to top up on alcohol.

Number 10 this morning apologies for lockdown busting parties that were held the night before the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral.

The party prompted the Prime Minister to issue an apology to the Queen.

The spokesman said: “It is deeply regrettable that this took place at a time of national mourning and No 10 has apologised to the Palace.

“You heard from the PM this week, he’s recognised No 10 should be held to the highest standards, and take responsibility for things we did not get right.”
