Lord Bethell slams 'disgusting' Domino's Cadbury Creme Egg Cookie in scathing rant

Lord Bethell has posted a scathing rant aimed at Cadbury and Domino's over a brand-new cookie. The popular pizza chain recently announced it has teamed up with Cadbury to release a Cadbury Creme Egg Cookie.

The new creation features a whole Cadbury Creme Egg baked inside of Domino's cookie dough. It'll be coming to stores on Monday, February 12, and will be available to order until Monday, April 8.

Domino's has described it as the “tastiest combo you’ll ever experience”, which will cost customers £6.99. Although news of the innovative sweet treat has been a hit with thousands of fans across the country, some people haven't been too impressed - including Lord Bethell.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, to make his feelings known, the member of the House of Lords didn't hold back. He said: "This is disgusting. A whole @CadburyUK cream egg in a @Dominos_UK cookie. These are serious corporate food companies. What are they thinking? The executive team, the board and the shareholders should be ashamed of themselves."

His post is in response to a separate tweet, written by a user called CernyCaroline, who said: "It's like Nestle's kit kat cereal created a race to the bottom among big food. Not sure what could beat this sugary, calorific concoction..."

It didn't take long for Lord Bethell's scathing words to gain attention. His post now has hundreds of likes, comments and shares, and thousands of views.

He went on to add: "I hope the executive team are ashamed. It’s not illegal. But it’s harmful. It’ll weigh heavily on their future career prospects. And it’s disgusting. They should know better. And use their many talents to find less egregious ways to hit their targets."

Many people took to the comment section to react. GB News presenter Tom Harwood replied: "Jim you’re shouting at cookies." UpdatingOnRome added: "This man mad at cookies." _Rubberbaron penned: "It’s not mandatory, you don’t have to eat it."

When approached for comment, a Mondelēz International spokesperson said: "This cookie is a seasonal, occasional treat that is likely to be shared as a dessert with friends and family this Easter. It is labelled with clear information regarding calories and individual portion sizes which enables consumers to make an informed choice about what they eat."

Domino's has been approached for comment.
