Gary Neville wades into Celtic and Rangers atmosphere row
Gary Neville insists Celtic Park is 'nowhere near' Ibrox when it comes to the atmosphere on European nights.
The Manchester United legend has played at both and reckons the noise that comes out of Celtic's stadium doesn't come close to what happens across the city.
He was discussing the semi-final between Rangers and RB Leipzig on Thursday night when footage showed a camera man’s gantry physically shaking as supporters celebrated.
Leipzig boss Domenico Tedesco had claimed that it was the best he had seen while a Bild reporter he was speaking to suggested she couldn’t even write because her laptop and desk was moving so much.
Neville took to Twitter to add to that and said: “The best atmosphere I ever witnessed in my playing career was Ibrox and the Galatasaray game. Nowhere else near it.”
And when one person replied to suggest he must have forgotten about playing Celtic in Glasgow by saying: “Did you miss the games against Celtic?”
Neville responded to say: “Yes I did play there. The night I played there in the CL was nowhere near the night I played at Ibrox. That clear it up?”
Naturally Rangers fans jumped on it in celebration while Celtic supporters insisted he was wrong.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men made it to the Europa League Final on Thursday night with a 3-1 win over Leipzig, to overturn a 1-0 defeat in the first leg.
