Celtic 1-1 Rangers recap as Fashion Sakala leveller cancels out Jota opener but Gers miss title chance
Missed Celtic chances proved costly after they let their Old Firm lead slip to draw 1-1 with Rangers.
Rangers drew themselves level through Fashion Sakala in the second hald after Jota had fired the Hoops ahead in the first.
The Gers started well and missed a big chance through Ryan Kent, who caught Anthony Ralston napping at the back post, but sent his volley wide.
Jota showed him how it was done, darting in ahead of the flat-footed Borna Barisic to fire home from close range.
Ange Postecoglou's team were in the ascendency since then and should have doubled their lead through Daezen Maeda, but he didn't fancy an aerial challenge with Allan McGregor.
Another Hoops goal would likely have put game is beyond their opponents.
Maeda missed great chance to make it 2-0, firing a shot over the bar with only McGregor to beat.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men made them pay after neat play between Scott Wright and Scott Arfield allowed Kent so slip Sakala in, and he fired low past Joe Hart at his near post.
Hart then produced a big save to deny Arfield before Sakala saw a later effort come back off the post as Rangers came oh so close to winning it.
Celtic now need four points to claim the title as Rangers' attention turns to Thursday's Europa League semi-final second leg against RB Leipzig.
