Celtic fans applaud team bus and shout ‘sack the board’ with police out in force at Parkhead
COPS are on high alert for trouble around Celtic Park amid a threatened protest by fans group the Green Brigade.
Dozens of cops and riot vans have created a ring of steel around the perimeter of the Parkhead stadium in preparation for violence.
A reinforced metal fence was also erected on Friday after fans chucked missiles and lobbed barriers in an ugly demo against manager Neil Lennon and the Celtic board last week.
Police horses and the dog unit are also on standby along with the force helicopter should it be needed.
The Hoops are playing St Johnstone at 3pm today and the team arrived at the ground 90 minutes before kick off in a coach.
They were escorted into the rear of the stadium and were cheered by a handful of fans, who also shouted 'sack the board'.
