Irdeto, the developers behind Denuvo, is adding TraceMark for Gaming to its suite of gaming anti-piracy tools. With TraceMark’s watermark technology, game developers can easily track leaks back to their source.

“With the launch of TraceMark for Gaming, we are setting a new standard in anti-piracy for the gaming industry. This innovative solution not only marks a significant milestone for Irdeto but also represents a leap forward in protecting the creative and financial investments of game developers worldwide. At Irdeto, we understand the unique challenges faced by the gaming community, and TraceMark is our commitment to ensuring that these valuable assets are safeguarded throughout their lifecycle. We are excited to see the positive impact this will have on the industry,” said Niels Haverkorn, SVP of New Markets, Irdeto.

Denuvo’s TraceMark deters leaks

According to Irdeto, TraceMark for Gaming specifically tailors this technology for the gaming industry for the first time. While the use case is new, Hollywood studios, sports leagues and others have battle-tested Irdeto’s invisible watermark solution.

Like these other industries, gaming companies need solutions to combat leaks, especially during pre-release development. Denuvo specifically seeks to help developers secure playtests, closed beta tests, and press review copies. While TraceMark for Gaming doesn’t prevent leaks directly, it deters potential leakers as unauthorized distribution can be linked directly to the source.

The tool is platform agnostic and is available for all stages of a game’s lifecycle. This provides a consistent layer of protection throughout development. Additionally, TraceMark for Gaming integrates into existing workflows and Denuvo’s Anti-tamper product to create a simple, one-click solution to further discourage content and game leaks.

TraceMark seeks to maximize transparency while also minimizing disruptions to gameplay. Irdeto has a self-service detection portal so developers and players can verify the presence of watermarks independently. This is particularly useful as TraceMark can embed both invisible and visible watermarking techniques to potentially double up on protection.

TraceMark for Gaming is the latest product in Denuvo’s security solutions. These include Anti-Tamper and Anti-Cheat technologies for PC and mobile games. Game Developers Conference attendees can connect with Irdeto at the Denuvo booth (S2033) on the expo floor.
