In line with this, we are steadily shifting people. The demand for beginner and intermediate SLR cameras is strong overseas, so we plan to continue development and production for the time being,” he told the daily.

The company is yet to reveal when Canon will wind down production of its flagshipDSLR cameras. “The broad details of Mitarai’s interview as described in the article are true“However, while estimated as ‘within a few years,’ exact dates are not confirmed for the conclusion of development/termination of production for a flagship DSLR camera,” the spokesperson said.

As per PetaPixel, Nikon too has shifted its focus to mirrorless cameras only. It has also stopped making flagship DSLR cameras. Nikon too may only launch mirrorless cameras in place of flagship DSLR cameras.
