Shortly after 3pm yesterday (January 26), Greater Manchester Police (GMP) attended an incident in Hollinwood where a 12-year-old child was knocked down by a van in Tim Hortons' car park, on Manchester Road.

The driver of the vehicle has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and the child taken to hospital.

A statement by GMP read: "Emergency services responded to a road traffic collision in Hollinwood involving a van and a child.

"At around 3.06pm yesterday (Friday January 26), police were called to a road traffic collision at a drive thru restaurant on Manchester Road.

"The 12-year-old child suffered life-changing injuries and was taken to hospital."

They added: "The male driver of the van was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. He remains in police custody and the investigation is ongoing."

The Oldham Times has contacted Tim Hortons for comment.
