BBC EastEnders Nadine's reason for baby lie revealed but fans 'aren't convinced'
EastEnders aired the explosive aftermath of Nadine Keller's baby lie on Thursday night.
Only recently, viewers learnt that Nadine is faking her pregnancy and tricking Jay Brown with the truth finally exposed on Wednesday's episode thanks to newcomer Stevie Mitchell, who is Billy Mitchell's estranged father and made an unexpected arrival earlier this week.
After witnessing a meeting between Nadine and a girl called Olivia, where she handed over the money Jay had given her for a "flat deposit" and readjusted her fake bump, Stevie confronted her to which Nadine gave him a wad of cash as hush money.
It appeared that Stevie was going to keep quiet as he accepted the money but later at the Queen Vic, during a family get together organised by great-great-granddaughter Lexi, Stevie decided to win over everyone's trust as they attempted to make him leave.
The newcomer declared: "I'm not the only villain in here, no, I'm not the worst villain here, she is... she's offered me money to keep quiet about it but I didn't come back here for money. I came back here for family and she ain't it" as he prodded her "baby bump" with his walking stick to the shock of his family as he then exposed the fake bump.
On Thursday's episode, Jay was left devastated as he quickly left the pub to which Nadine followed after him as she explained why she lied. Nadine explained that Olivia is a fellow student and was blackmailing her for cash as she got into a fancy law internship that Olivia wanted and the latter threatened to tell the firm about Nadine's drug use and sex work. However, Jay didn't want to hear and threatened to call the police as he insisted Nadine leave for good to which she obliged.
Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers weren't convinced that Nadine was telling the truth as they thought the storyline was too rushed. One person said: "Sorry Nadine is being blackmailed over an internship?? #Eastenders", a different account put: "Lies Nadine #EastEnders" while another added: "I’m glad Nadine was exposed but really, what was the point of the storyline? #Eastenders."
