A pub chain will reopen its local watering holes tomorrow.

Staffordshire Pubs, owned and managed by Stonegate Group, will reopen five pubs in the area as lockdown restrictions ease on May 17.

The company says each pub has introduced measures to protect staff and customers and ensure the smooth running of operations in compliance with the new Covid-19 secure guidance for pubs and restaurants.

The pubs that will welcome back customers are:

  • The Village Tavern in Wolstanton;
  • The Golden Lion in Newcastle;
  • The George and Dragon in Newcastle;
  • The Grapes Hotel in Stafford;
  • The Yard in Stafford.

They will have signs clearly setting out the safety measures in place. Customers will be greeted with 'a warm welcome', while safety measures in place will include clear social distancing measures, enhanced cleaning regimes and a requirement to adhere to NHS Test and Trace guidelines.
