Who will win Feyenoord vs Rangers? Our writers deliver their Europa League predictions for crunch clash

Who will win Feyenoord vs Rangers Our writers deliver their Europa League predictions for crunch clash

Rangers supporters have been enjoying a two-year thrill ride under Steven Gerrard and the biggest night yet might be about to come.

The Liverpool icon was a master in Europe as a player and has proved to be equally as adept in the dugout.

Gerrard knows a positive result against Feyenoord will put Rangers on the brink of qualification to the last 32 of the Europa League and a win could even secure progression.

But the task is tall with the Eredivisie big-hitters turning to former Ibrox boss Dick Advocaat to given them a bounce and secure safe passage to the knockout stages.

The De Kuip Arena is one of the world's best stadiums and the travelling support would love nothing more than a Euro triumph for the ages.

But will they get it?

Our writers have made their predictions ahead of the big one.

Normally, a point away from home at Feyenoord would represent a terrific result on the road. And, although that would still be the case here, there is also reason to believe Rangers can go one better. Dick Advocaat can’t seem to get a bounce out of a struggling side, while Steven Gerrard’s European record over the last two seasons has been outstanding. A win here might top the lot.

Steven Gerrard’s team were terrific in their last away game to Porto and a repeat of that performance can see them emulate the success they enjoyed over the Dutch outfit on the opening night of the group campaign.

Rangers are still seeking their first group stage win on the road, but are playing with enough confidence at this level to get it at De Kuip against an under-performing Dutch side.

Feyenoord are unbeaten under Dick Advocaat but Gers can take a point of the four needed to be certain of reaching the knockout stage.

Steven Gerrard’s side are specialists in Europe and they seem to be at their best when up against it away from home.

The Gers are a major threat on the counter attack and they will get chances to hit the Dutch side. Dick Advocaat will have Feyenoord firing but the Ibrox legend will be left frustrated this time.

Rangers have progression in their own hands but will be made to wait until the final matchday by a Feyenoord side who are starting to show signs of recovery under Dick Advocaat. The Dutch were poor at Ibrox but will be a different animal in De Kuip where they are unbeaten in five.

It’s a huge ask for Steven Gerrard’s men as the Dutch should be much better than they showed in Glasgow and at a difficult venue, they may find this a European reality check as Feyenoord gain a bit of revenge.
