Flood Warning in East and West Didsbury and Northenden

Heavy rain from Storm Franklin falling on already saturated ground has continued to affect parts of Greater Manchester and flooding is expected in East Didsbury, West Didsbury and Northenden.

The Environment Agency has issued two Severe Flood Warnings at 12pm, 20 February 2022 which means we must act.  Residents who may be affected should be prepared and follow advice, should they be asked to leave their home.

If it is necessary to evacuate homes, residents will be contacted and given instructions. We are working with colleagues in Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue and the Environment Agency to proactively evacuate homes before any flooding has taken place to ensure people’s safety.

Anyone required to evacuate will be asked to make their own risk assessment as to what they do.

For those that can’t stay with local family/friends, rest centres will be made available at Didsbury Mosque and the Armitage Centre.

Please stay in that single place until you’re told it is safe to return.

In an emergency situation where a person or household is in immediate danger, please call 999.
