Gogglebox Malones taken to one side by Manchester Airport security guards

Gogglebox stars Tom and Julie Malone have jetted off for a break to Dublin, days after Tom celebrated his birthday, but had a bit of a comical episode with security on the way there.

It was Tom Sr's birthday on Tuesday, with his son Tom Jr paying tribute to him by sharing a throwback snap on the day. The picture showed a baby Tom being held by his dad - who looked almost unrecognisable with a curly perm and a moustache.

Julie and Tom Sr shared a video from Manchester Airport on Instagram on Friday, as they headed towards their departure gate. And Tom confessed he'd just been pulled aside by security.

Speaking to the camera, a perturbed-looking Tom said: "Guess who got at Manchester Airport because he had curling tongs in his bag? They weren't mine.

"Christ almighty. They say 'are these your curling tongs?' and I've got to say 'yeah', cause I packed my own bag apparently."

Julie laughed and asked her husband "What is it we're looking for now? Departure gate?" before turning back to the camera. She added: "See you soon Dublin!"

Fans clearly found the tale hilarious. Taking to the comments section, Judith MB said: "Modern man! Have a lovely break xx."

Amy Morgan said "Haha, hope you have a lovely time", while Carol Ellis said: "Haaa curling tongs, so funny. Have a fab weekend xx."
