In January, the Ministry of Home Affairs had designated Satinderjit Singh, alias Goldy Brar, as a terrorist under the anti-terror law, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The government notification linked Brar to Babbar Khalsa International, a listed terrorist organisation under the UAPA.

Accused of masterminding the assassination of Punjabi pop icon Sidhu Moose Wala, Brar serves as a close aide to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, currently incarcerated in a Gujarat prison. Intelligence reports suggest that confirming Brar's status would necessitate a DNA examination due to his alleged use of a false identity upon entering US territory, ToI reported.Conflicting reports emerged on May 1, with some media outlets suggesting Brar's demise in a shootout involving rival gangsters Arsh Dalla and Lakhbir.

Eyewitnesses had described, to some media outlets, a scene of chaos where Brar and his associate were targeted by unidentified attackers who promptly fled the scene. Officer Lasley Williams confirmed the casualties, with Brar reportedly succumbing to his injuries.

Goldy Brar, a key figure in the investigation into the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, has long been entrenched in the shadowy realm of gangland warfare. Hailing from a family with police background in Muktsar Sahib, Punjab, Brar pursued a divergent path, obtaining a BA degree and remotely operating from Canada.Last year, Goldy Brar also said that Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was his next target.
