A British comedian’s fans are casting aside important family events to see his first stand-up tour in seven years.

Greg Davies, 55, is returning to the live circuit after a long hiatus and play more then 50 dates across the country from Portsmouth to Swansea next year.

After pre-sale tickets for his tour – titled Full Fat Legend – were released earlier this week, the Taskmaster star’s fans have whipped themselves into a frenzy to try to secure seats.

One dedicated Greg fan on X implied he was going to skip his own son’s birthday to see the Man Down star in action.

‘Brought tickets for my wife and myself,’ @borndriller said on the social media site.

And here’s the kicker, signed off with the crying laughing emoij: ‘Clashes with my son’s birthday, but meh he will have others.’

Showing equal commitment to Greg, @k2dee2 said she would be flying across the Atlantic and planning her whole wedding anniversary around the tour/

They revealed: ‘I worked up early in the US so I can score tickets. Husband doesn’t know this yet, but we are spending our 9 year wedding anniversary in Ireland so I can see you live.’

Many other fans expressed their disappointment they were unable to snap up tickets in the pre-sale as dates began selling out.

@janeym65, however, was among the lucky ones, sharing on X: ‘Managed to get tickets for York but crikey, a moment’s indecision and they would have gone. A few people seem quite keen to see you.’

The fervour has been caused, in part, because Greg’s last tour was Magnificent Beast in 2017.

In the intervening years, he has largely focused on TV including overseeing hapless celebrities complete eccentric tasks with sidekick (Little) Alex Horne on Taskmaster.

Greg also penned and starred in the BBC sitcom The Cleaner and hosted the reboot of Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

He previously spoke to Metro.co.uk and other press about taking on a more dramatic role in The Cleaner, which follows his character mopping up gruesome crime scenes.

Asked whether it was a ‘conscious move’ away from comedy, he said: ‘I haven’t sat down and thought, “Oh enough of being silly.”

‘If anything I would say that my interpretation of this character, he’s a lot more, for want of more eloquent phrase, more smart arsed than the German one and more prone to trying to be funny as is my want.’

However, he added: ‘I certainly welcome the dramatic elements to it. I certainly found it exciting when in the more serious moments, it’s certainly an interesting challenge.

‘But I didn’t sit down and think, “I must become an actor, I must prove I’m an actor.”‘
