Cranberries have long been considered a "superfood" (foods that are rich in nutrients) and many people add them to their dishes all year round.

But consuming these nutritious berries comes with another benefit, which has just recently been discovered. The research, led by King's College London scientists, tracked 45 healthy men over a month and found that daily consumption of cranberries improved their cardiovascular function.

The study was a double-blind randomised controlled trial, a type of trial considered the gold standard for evaluating the effectiveness of an intervention. In this type of study, neither the participants nor the researchers know which intervention participants received before the end of the trial. This means that the results of the study are less likely to be biased.
