The Black Cats are aiming to make it three League One wins in a row, following their victories against Plymouth Argyle and Morecambe.

Lee Johnson's side goes into the game sitting third in the table, two points behind leaders Rotherham United, while Ipswich lie 12th, 14 points behind the Wearsiders, and this week were knocked out of the FA Cup by League Two Barrow.

Ipswich sacked manager Paul Cook the weekend before last but this week confirmed that they will appoint former Manchester United coach Kieran McKenna as their new manager, although he will not officially take up his new role until after today's game with interim boss John McGreal remaining in charge this afternoon.
