It is written in the stars for Jamie Vardy to score the winning goal against Chelsea and lift the FA Cup.

That is according to Andy King, who played alongside the Foxes talisman for eight years at the King Power Stadium.

Vardy, who has risen from non-league to the Premier League, will have played in every single round of the FA Cup when he takes on Chelsea in the Wembley showdown on Saturday, LIVE on talkSPORT from 5.15pm.

King told talkSPORT: “It’s just written for him.

“He’s the first player to have played in every single round of the FA Cup, whether that be the first qualifying round, which starts in July in non-league to now be in the final.

“We’ve seen him write other records. He’s been on a bit of a dry spell in front of goal by his own standards.

“He’s still contributing a lot to the team and he still gives the team that edge.

“We know how football works and I can just see him scoring the winner.”

Leicester could end the season with an FA Cup trophy and a top-four finish.

And King, who left the Foxes last year, believes Leicester are now an ‘elite’ team and could regularly challenge for the Premier League title in the next 10 years.

He said: “Leicester are on elite team now. They’re regularly breaking into the top six. It looks like it’s going to be top four this year.

“They had a good European run and they’ll hope to do that again next year.

“If they do get into the Champions League, it gives them the financial power to go and buy more world class players and try and make the top four challenge sustainable year on year.

“They’ve got a top, top manager. He’s absolutely outstanding. So it’s a club going in the right direction. They’ll be fighting on all fronts for a lot of years to come.

“I’m comparing it to Man City’s rise at all, but Man City did it in a really quick time, but I wouldn’t be surprised if in 10 years’ time, Leicester are also right up there.

“It’s going to be a slower process than what happened at Manchester City.”
