Glastonbury 2024 fans say 'imagine' as Janelle Monae 'deserved ...

The Grammy-nominated singer and actor performed on the Pyramid Stage on Sunday evening.

Glastonbury fans said Janelle Monae's set 'deserved more' as she took the Pyramid Stage on Sunday night. The Grammy-nominated Janelle Monae took to the stage at around 5.45 pm after Shania Twain's legends slot.

However, the timing of Janelle's performance meant it clashed with Avril Lavigne on The Other Stage as well as England's EURO 2024 last-16 game against Slovakia. As a result, those who did watch the American singer noticed the crowd looking a bit thin.

Writing on X, formerly Twitter, @lkwrnr said: "Very small crowd at Janelle Monáe on the Pyramid.. I’m guessing everyone’s watching Avril Lavigne on the Other stage." @throughmyaiz wrote: "Imagine missing JANELLE MONAE for England. while @iplayitagain said: "Feel pity for anyone watching the England game instead of Janelle Monae."

Meanwhile, @DChilv wrote: "You all need to turn that football off and stick on Janelle Monae" as @marieh0151 said: "Janelle Monae at Glastonbury caused me to forget that some football was occurring. Amazing costume changes and perfect vocals."

Others also said she deserved a much-bigger crowd and described her set as 'amazing'.

@1983Spiritfarer tweeted: "This small lacklustre crowd does not deserve the glory that is Janelle Monae" as @DChilv added: "Janelle Monae put on a helluva show there. Real artistry on that show. Magical voice. Deserved a much much bigger crowd!!". And @hharrison87 wrote: "Janelle Monae, absolutely amazing, what an artist."
