Jayne Middlemiss' EastEnders past to romance with Gary Oldman

Jayne Middlemiss was a mainstay of 90s TV and pop culture presenting Top of The Pops, O Zone and Robot Wars. She was also a reality TV favourite winning the first series of Love Island during the original run of the show back in 2005.

Middlemiss was born in Northumberland and started her career in London in the early 1990s as a glamour model before pursuing a career in media.

The TV, now 50, star first gained recognition for presenting fashion show She's Gotta Have It in 2000. She had a spot in the FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World poll and later joined BBC Radio 6 Music in 2002 as one of the station's original presenters.

Her appearance on Love Island won over viewers alongside celebrities including Calum Best, Liz McClarnon and Rebecca Loos. Audiences were left gripped as they watched the former model fall for fellow contestant and former Manchester United footballer Lee Sharpe only to be left heartbroken when he confessed his affection for fellow Love Island competitor Abi Titmuss.

But her career continued to ride high and In 2009, she won another TV contest when she took the title of Celebrity MasterChef and in 2012 she won an episode of BBC One's Pointless Celebrities with Jamie Theakston.

She also briefly presented EastEnders Revealed from 1999-2000, a show looking back at the storylines, characters and stars of BBC soap which aired on BBC Three until 2012.

At the height of her fame, she's reported to have dated actor Gary Oldman, 62, around 2001. They weren't spotted out together at the time but it isn't thought to have lasted long between them.

In recent years Jayne, 50, who lives in North London has stepped out of the limelight instead pursuing her love of yoga. In 2006 she narrated a documentary about a yoga retreat for the BBC and also featured in A Beginners Guide to ... Yoga for Channel 4 in 2007.

In 2021 she was tipped for a return to TV and said to be in the running for ITVs Dancing On Ice.
