“This is some Christmas.”

While the colossal blockbuster has delighted audiences over on the big screen, the MCU has given fans at home something to cherish too in the form of Hawkeye.

Created by Jonathan Igla, the miniseries continues to cement Disney+ as the home for the beloved studio’s episodic adventures. Many have been thrilled to see Clint Barton’s titular hero (played by Jeremy Renner) step into the spotlight at long last.

What is Kate Bishop’s superhero name?

Kate Bishop’s superhero name is actually Hawkeye too, as has been outlined in the character’s Marvel Comics history.

Her hero name is exactly the same as Clint’s, and while this may seem confusing, it’s worth pointing out that there are numerous instances across both Marvel and DC where multiple characters have taken up the same mantle. These range from Spider-Man to Batgirl.

Looking back on how she got the name in the comics, her bravery and skill saw her inducted into the Young Avengers. However, Captain America and Iron would later demand that the crew disband.

This didn’t stop Kate, who used money from her family to move the team into a new lair for training, equipping them with new weapons and kit.

Both Patriot and Kate became co-leaders of the initiative but the relationship was thrown into turmoil upon the discovery that Patriot was taking Mutant Growth Hormone to gain powers. In the wake of Patriot’s injury, Kate pointed her finger at Cap for inadequate training.

After the fallout, Jessica Jones met with Kate to give her the bow and arrows that belonged to the original Hawkeye. It’s addressed that Clint was the only one who truly stood up to Cap and now it was time for Kate to do the same.

In short, it was time for her to become Hawkeye, adopting the name and therefore seeing her continue the lineage.

“I feel so lucky”

While in conversation with Collider, Hailee opened up about just how much this MCU opportunity has helped her:

“I really do feel like playing this character forced me to find a confidence and a determination and a discipline that’s always been inside of me, but I really had to bring it out of myself for this to do this character justice.”

She added: “I feel so lucky to be playing a character that is so loved by so many and that people have been waiting for some time to see brought to life.”
