Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho latest Manchester United
Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho both have a future at Man Utd despite reports of PSR concerns; Mainoo has been in talks over a new and improved deal, while Garnacho is also in Ruben Amorims plans; the clubs focus is on shifting players that dont fit

Kobbie Mainoo has no concerns over his Manchester United future, Sky Sports News understands, amid reports the club may need to cash in on academy players to comply with financial rules.

The 19-year-old has felt valued by United, who have made it clear they are not actively seeking to sell the midfielder nor Alejandro Garnacho, despite needing to be realistic over their PSR and FFP situation.

United have been preparing a new contract for Mainoo, former manager Erik ten Hag told Sky Sports News in September there would be talks with the club's leadership team over rewarding the England international.

His current deal runs to 2027 with the option of an extra year, which includes in-built pay rises linked to performance.

The summer recruitment of Manuel Ugarte was centred around finding a good foil for Mainoo, and the pair have shown shoots of a promising partnership.

Garnacho, meanwhile, is contracted until 2028.

United have to sell to buy to equip Ruben Amorim with a squad capable of effectively enacting his philosophy, and the focus is on shifting players that do not have a long-term future at Old Trafford.

Sky Sports News senior reporter Melissa Reddy speaking on Transfer Talk:

"Kobbie Mainoo has no concerns over his Manchester United future amid those reports that the club may need to sell academy graduates to comply with financial rules.

"I'm told the 19-year-old feels quite valued by United, who've made it very clear that they're not actively seeking to sell him nor Alejandro Garnacho, despite needing to be quite realistic about their PSR and FFP situations.

"Mainoo's current terms expire in 2027, there's an option of an extra year and that deal has pay rises in-built linked to performances.

"The club have been preparing a new contract for him to reflect his growing status within the squad. And if you look at some of the things they've done, like that summer recruitment of Manuel Ugarte, they brought him in to act as a foil for Mainoo, so he is very much a part of the club's long-term future.

"Former Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag explained in September that they were working to keep Mainoo at the club because they want to build around him.

"While United are in this position where they have to sell to buy to equip Ruben Amorim with a squad that's capable of properly enacting his philosophy, they're also focused on shifting players that don't form part of the long-term future, rather than first teamers that they want to rely on."
