Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has opened up about his ongoing health problems, revealing the changes he has made to his lifestyle in order to combat further issues.

In recent years, Gallagher has been honest about his battles, and in 2019, he revealed he was suffering from arthritis, which had prevented him from running. Due to the disease, his mobility problems continued to worsen, and the rock vocalist underwent hip surgery in 2023 in a bid to improve his health.

Before undergoing the operation, Gallagher said of his plans for the procedure during an interview with Mojo in 2022: “My hips are fucked, I’ve got arthritis, bad. I went to get it checked out and my bones are mashed up. The lady was going, ‘Oh, you might need a hip operation, a replacement. I think I’d rather just be in pain. Which is ridiculous, obviously. I know that. Just get them fixed. But it’s the stigma, saying you’ve had your hips replaced. What’s next?”

After deciding to overcome the “stigma” of undergoing a hip replacement, Gallagher’s health has significantly improved after the surgery. He is currently out on tour across the United Kingdom with John Squire, which is set to conclude with two shows in London at O2 Kentish Town Forum and The Troxy, taking place on March 25th and 26th, respectively.

Furthermore, this summer, Gallagher will be hitting the road once more as he plans to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Oasis’ seminal debut album, Definitely Maybe. The band’s lead vocalist will be playing the album in full across arenas in the UK, including six performances at London’s O2 Arena, and will also headline Reading & Leeds.

Now, in anticipation of the forthcoming run of dates, Gallagher has explained how he has turned a leaf and is no longer able to burn the candle at both ends like he once could.

During an interview with The Sun, Gallagher said of his current way of living: “You’ve got to undo all the bad work you’ve done through fucking getting off your head and all that. It’s time to undo it all now and get back to reality.”

The singer, who recently had a number one album with John Squire, added: “All that stuff that you thought was cool in the early days . . . it’s time to get healthy.”

He also discussed the contrast between his life and the one he used to lead, noting: “As you get older, life is precious, do you know what I mean? When you are younger you don’t care. ‘I’m a thinker’ But as you get older, you’re getting closer to wherever you’re meant to be going.”

While Gallagher has an action-packed 2024 on the horizon, thanks to his lifestyle changes, he can still deliver a rock ‘n’ roll show with more energy than people half his age and shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
