M5 northbound closed due to 'serious crash' - updates
The M5 is closed northbound this afternoon due to a 'serious crash'. It happened between junctions 21 and 21 at around 1.30pm, and is one of a number of incidents on the motorway today.
Traffic monitoring website Inrix reports: "M5 Northbound closed, stationary traffic due to serious accident between J22 (Burnham-on-sea) and J21 A370 (Weston-super-mare). The road is now fully closed following an accident at 13:35."
National Highways tweeted: "The #M5 northbound is closed between J22 (#BurnhamOnSea) and J21(#WestonSuperMare) due to a serious collision. Emergency services and Traffic Officers are on scene. Delays are beginning to build on approach to closure. More details to follow."
Elsewhere, there's been another crash on the M5 southbound, between junctions 19 and 20. It comes as millions of drivers take to the roads for the bank holiday getaway.
