M5 traffic updates as serious crash causes major delays
This is the latest update from National Highways:
There are severe delays of up to 90 minutes due to a serious collision on the M5 northbound between Junction 22 (Burnham-on-Sea) and Junction 21 (Weston-Super-Mare). Lanes 1 and 2 (of 3) are closed.
Avon and Somerset Police lead the response to the ongoing incident. National Highways have resources in attendance to assist with traffic management.
Southbound carriageway was also closed, but has reopened in all lanes earlier this afternoon.
There is approximately 10 miles of congestion northbound, please allow an additional 90 minutes on to your current journey time.
There is approximately 20 miles of slow moving traffic southbound, with congestion back to J17. Added extra journey time of 90 minutes. Traffic flowing in some spots of the southbound carriageway.
