Man City 2-2 Tottenham REPORT: VAR steals the show as City and Spurs share the spoils
Manchester City were held to a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening where VAR took centre stage.
In the late kick-off in the Premier League, Rodri's appeals for an early penalty went unrewarded when he tumbled in a tangle with Erik Lamela, as referee Michael Oliver and VAR felt no offence had been committed.
But Manchester City did not have to wait long for the opener, however.
Kevin De Bruyne's whipped cross from the right of the 18-yard box after 20 minutes was met by a Raheem Sterling header back across goal and beyond Hugo Lloris - his fourth of the season.
But Spurs hit back inside three minutes, Lamela planting a well-placed strike past Ederson from the edge of the area to make it 1-1.
City's lead was restored in the 35th minute, when Aguero glanced in a close-range finish from another De Bruyne delivery.
Spurs levelled for a second time when Lucas Moura towered above Kyle Walker and nodded the ball home - seconds after coming on as a substitute on 56 minutes.
Pep Guardiola swapped Sergio Aguero for Gabriel Jesus who thought he had won the match for City when he buried the ball into the bottom corner deep into stoppage time.
However, their celebrations were muted when VAR disallowed the goal after spotting a hand ball by Aymeric Laporte in the build-up - leaving the sides to take a point apiece.
