Man Utd transfer target faces Sir Jim Ratcliffe audition to prove hes
worth 60m
Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be watching Man Utd's Premier League clash at Crystal Palace very closely.

United are out of the running for Champions League qualification, but just one win in six league games has left them at risk of missing out on European qualification entirely.

So the Red Devils travel to south London desperately needing three points, with Newcastle United and Chelsea threatening their top-seven status.

Ratcliffe is expected to oversee a summer of significant change on and off the pitch at the start of his new-look hierarchy's regime at Old Trafford.

Reports claim United are leading the race to sign Olise after identifying him as a priority target to upgrade Ten Hag's attack.

The 22-year-old right-winger is believed to have a £60million release clause in the Palace contract he signed last summer after rejecting Chelsea, who triggered his previous clause worth £35m.

During tonight's match, he will have the opportunity to prove to United that he is worth a sizeable chunk of the club's budget.

Olise made headlines in last season's meeting at Selhurst Park by scoring an incredible last-gasp free-kick from range to end the Red Devils' seven-match winning streak after the 2022 World Cup break.

The France U21 international isn't injury-prone but has had reduced game time this term due to a recurrence of a hamstring problem.

However, Olise has impressed when available. He has averaged one direct goal contribution in each of his 11 Premier League starts, scoring seven goals and registering four assists in 16 appearances in total.

Another impactful performance against United could convince the new decision-makers at Old Trafford to accelerate plans to secure a deal.

Olise's arrival would draw questions about Alejandro Garnacho, who has established himself as Ten Hag's first-choice right-winger this season.

Garnacho has started the last 35 games, leapfrogging £86m star Antony in the pecking order. The Brazilian would become vulnerable if another natural right-winger landed in M16.

Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri also face uncertain futures, and Olise's arrival would make their hopes of opportunities even bleaker.

Ratcliffe has repeated the need for INEOS to be ruthless in their United rebuild, though, and expectations that Olise will be one of his first signings would grow with a strong showing tonight.
