The real life Mrs Clause, legendary pop diva Mariah Carey has opened up about how she will never give up her title of the Queen of Christmas.

The singing sensation herself, known for her five-octave vocal range and iconic whistle register, is launching a new show on Apple TV+ called Mariah's Christmas: The Magic Continues.

New-York-born Mariah, 52, who's festive 1994 hit All I Want For Christmas Is You has been a hit around December-time each and every year since its release, joined ITV's Lorraine Kelly this morning to discuss her upcoming project.

When asked whether her festive extravaganzas could become an annual tradition, the Billboard 1990's Artist of the Decade replied: "It has to be - no matter what! Even if I did it by myself from my house with my dogs, I will do something festive for Christmas every year!

"But I'm fortunate to be doing this (TV show) for a second year in a row, and I have a brand new song with Khalid - 'Fall in Love at Christmas' - and Kirk Franklin is featured on the track as well with his amazing choir.

"I'm not trying to be like, 'Oh, I'm competing with 'All I Want'' - it's not a competition, it's just a different style of song! It's a love song and it's a spiritual moment, and I think for where we are in the world, it's really right timing-wise."

"For people that enjoy my music or my fans, it's been an amazing experience for me because my voice has gotten back to a place that it hasn't been in years and years.

"So, I've been able to just sing, take a couple of days off, sing again, write, write something brand new."

During her lockdown downtime, the five-time Grammy-award winner was also able to write her second autobiography, 'The Meaning of Mariah Carey', which is currently being made into a film adaptation.

"But, it's Christmas!" she told Lorraine. "And I stop everything at Christmas!

"So, we have this special and I cannot wait for the world to see it!"

Mariah, who unsurprisingly the best-selling Christmas album of all time, then revealed that the golden dress that she is shown wearing in her upcoming festive show took six grown-men to carry the train of to get her down the stairs!

"It weighed like 60 or 70 pounds that dress because of the beading!"

She joked: "Sometimes, it's five or six [men], it depends on the beading!" and was then asked what Christmas is truly like in the Carey household.

"It's more than just decorations and superficial stuff.

"I grew up with nothing, I didn't have all this stuff! People don't really know that, that's why I try to encourage people to read the book, because it is a story that can inspire people who don't know that it's possible for them to achieve their dreams."
