Marks and Spencer's has been left humiliated after it used a bottle of wine from it's long-term rival Aldi in its garden furniture advert.
Britain's favourite supermarket was called out by the budget store for using it's £7.49 Specially Selected Côtes De Provence Blanc in a photograph M&S used to promote its £669 Roma Four-Seater Garden Table with Chairs.
It comes after M&S sued Aldi twice in recent years for copy cat products - once over its trademark Collin the Caterpillar and a second time over its festive, and very Instagrammable, gin bottles.
Yet appearing to get its own back, the German store shared a photo of the blunder on X, jokingly captioned: 'Marks and Spencer drink Aldi wine. Pass it on.'
The white wine featured on the patio table is currently out of stoke ion Aldi's website, with its Côtes De Provence also no longer being sold.

Many on social media found the faux-pas hilarious with one tweeting: 'Eagle-eyed Aldi just took sweet revenge on M&S and whoever spotted this should take the rest of the week off.'
Another said: 'Brilliant idea by the M&S marketing team. Free advertising from Aldi for a very nice table and chairs set.'
A third added: 'M&S use Aldi wine in their furniture advert. Absolutely brilliant faux pas.'
While a fourth joked: This is moments before they brought out a Cuthbert.'
The supermarkets first came head-to-head in 2021, when M&S took legal action against Aldi over its lookalike version of the Collin the Caterpillar cake called Cuthbert.
After a year long battle, an out of court settlement was finally reached with Aldi agreeing to alter the appearance of its beloved birthday cake.

Despite this, Aldi went on to lose its year-long court battle with its rival after it created gin bottles that looked very similar to M&S' festive, light-up bottles.
The High Court ruled that Aldi infringed the design of its rival's product, in a major blow to the German discounter, which had denied the accusations.
M&S sued Aldi for allegedly infringing the design of its 'light-up gin bottles' which were sold during Christmas 2020, claiming that Aldi's 2021 gold flake blackberry and clementine gin liqueurs were 'strikingly similar' to its own products.
Lawyers for M&S said their client's designs were part of its 'Gin Globes Project' which saw products first launched in 2019.
Aldi is well-known for selling products that look very similar to mainstream brands often offering the items at a discounted price.
A spokesperson for M&S said: 'Sometimes you regret asking guests to BYOB – this one is fine for a prop but if you'd prefer to enjoy a top-quality bottle of award-winning rosé with your new garden furniture, we'd recommend our gorgeously fruity and aromatic Collection Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire rosé – an absolute must for lovers of pink drinks in the sunshine!'
