Martine told The Sun: 'They called me and they were just really disappointed because there's a load of mud huts and wrong'uns that they just didn't talk about.

'They got all excited when they thought I would like to do it and then they called me and went, "This isn't going to work."

'I probably am a typical East End mum. I'm full of praise, full of love and affection, but I'm also like, 'Enough is enough'. Most people are posher than me, that's not hard.'

The BBC declined to comment when contacted by MailOnline.

In 2017, the EastEnders star opened up about her own childhood, revealing that she and her mother Jenny Tomlin had to have panic buttons installed after her abusive father, Thomas Hemmings, wouldn't leave them alone.

She said: 'We had panic buttons and everything and we would move all around the country and he would find us.

'I would call the police and by the time they would get there he wouldn't be doing it and they couldn't convict him.'

The actress previously spoke about the abuse on the same show, claiming her father waged a nine year domestic abuse war against her mother, Jenny Tomlin.

She also said it was only when aged nine she went to the courts to plead for an injunction did they escape the abuse.

Martine previously claimed her mother had grown up herself in a violent household and had experienced physical and sexual abuse from her own father.

She said: 'We then moved all around the country, we had panic buttons.

'Finally when I was nine years old, I went to the Old Bailey and I spoke to the judge about what happened to me, what happened to my mum and an injunction was put against him and he wasn’t allowed obviously within a certain radius of me and my mum until I was 18.'

Last month, fans voiced their concern for the actress, calling her 'too thin' after her recent Instagram posts.

Martine has showcased her toned physique with increasingly regularity in recent months, including in elegant swimsuit shots.

However many of her followers said they were left 'worried' after the mother-of-one shared a snap posing in a leather skirt in her garden.

Some urged her 'not to lose any more weight', while another commented: 'How have you got so tiny all of a sudden?'

Martine, who made her children's TV debut as a teenager, has spoken previously about how growing up in the public eye made her aware of her weight from a young age.

'I was always conscious of staying as thin as I could be,' she said in a 2016 interview. 'It looked better on camera, meant I could fit into size 8 sample sizes and it was easier and more affordable with stylists.'

When asked how many hurtful comments affected her, she admitted 'there were hundreds' and said she body shamed 'loads of times'.

She added: 'People spoke about me like I was a piece of meat and I can’t believe that’s still going on in this day and age.'
