Tom Cruise stuns diners as he rocks up to Derbyshire restaurant for lunch
Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise stunned restaurant staff as he took a break from filming the latest Mission: Impossible installment for a spot of lunch in Derbyshire

Restaurant staff and diners were left starstruck when Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise popped in for dinner while filming Mission: Impossible.

The actor, known for his roles in Top Gun and Rain Man, surprised everyone when he showed up at Restaurant Lovage in the village of Bakewell, Derbyshire. The 61-year-old was spotted on Tuesday (March 5), filming the next part of his action-packed movie series in a nearby mine. He then swapped his rough-and-ready outfit for something much smarter when he dined at the Michelin guidebook restaurant with his team.

A spokesperson for Restaurant Lovage said: "We were honoured to have shared our food and hospitality with @tomcruise and his cast and crew last week. A truly humbling experience to have had such a kind and genuine group of guests join us. Mr Cruise was kind enough to offer a photo with us all and has given us permission to share. Thank you for choosing Lovage - we would be thrilled to welcome you all back again!"

The restaurant offers classic British food, with a seven-course tasting menu priced at £85 per person. A wine pairing can be added for an extra £55. Their a la carte menu features dishes like beef fillet with garlic butter and triple cooked chips for £40, or Halibut with Jerusalem artichoke, parma ham, king oyster for £35.

Tom, who will reprise his role as Impossible Mission Force (IMF) agent Ethan Hunt, filmed a car chase scene at Middleton Mine near Matlock, Derbyshire last Tuesday. Cruise and his team are familiar with the county, having filmed scenes in Darlton Quarry, Stoney Middleton, in 2021 for the action film series. Filming for the latest movie was previously stopped due to the Hollywood actor's strike, but it has since resumed in full swing.

Earlier this year it was reported Tom is working on Top Gun 3 with Paramount, despite his huge deal with a rival studio. He is said to be reprising his role as Pete Mitchell for a sequel after signing a deal with rival Warner Brothers. A script is said to being written by Maverick writer Ehren Kruger, with the likes of Miles Teller and Glen Powell expecting to return for the third installment of the hit movie franchise.

The Hollywood Reporter said "the reality is this sequel has quietly been in development since late fall". However, they said fans should not expect to see the new Top Gun movie in the near future, as filming for the eighth Mission: Impossible movie, "which will keep him occupied until at least its release, currently set for May 2025".

Tom has signed a deal to develop and produce theatrical films with Warner Bros. Discovery. The movies that he will work on will also star him, with the deal dubbed as a "strategic partnership".
