New Look website down as shoppers rush to get 30 off today only
New Look's website and app are currently 'down' - but the brand has shared the "exciting" reason with shoppers

Fans of New Look will not be able to shop online today as the fashion brand's website is 'down'. The high street chain is not allowing shoppers to purchase items on it's website or app today.

The fashion brand, which is hugely popular and well-known for it's affordable, stylish clothing, shoes and accessories, shared with customers that the site will be down "until Monday evening" [February 24]. However, stores remain open.

According to an email sent to shoppers on Sunday [February 23] evening, the website and app are currently down for a good reason. In the message titled "important info about our site and app", New Look teased that "something is coming."

The full email to customers read: "FYI, our site and app will be down from 11pm tonight ]Sunday, Feb 23] till Monday evening while we carry out some exciting updates.

"As always, there's lots of newness landing daily, so check back tomorrow to be the first to shop our latest drops!" The retailer added a barcode offering shoppers 30% off when shopping in-store while the site is down.

A New Look spokesperson said: "Due to a planned system upgrade, our website and app are currently unavailable and will be back up and running soon. During this time, customers will not be able to make purchases online but are welcome to shop in-store as usual. We thank all our customers for their patience."

The "updates" to New Look's site and app come as a string of the chain's stores closed their doors. Last week, its Porth branch in Rhondda Cynon Taf shut for the final time, while a further two are set to pull down their shutters in March.

Last month, several New Look stores closed for for good, including one in Carillon Court Shopping Centre in Loughborough, and a second in Essex. The third closure as the fashion retailer's Bracknell store at Bracknell Peel Centre, which pulled down the shutters on January 30.

Earlier this year, the Times reported that the chain was looking to "accelerate future store closures" when leases expire. The newspaper said this was due to the tax increases revealed in October’s budget.

According to the report, around a quarter of its 364 UK stores - around 91 sites - could be at risk of closure. New Look did not confirm this report at the time.
