PSG were frustrated for much of the first half, with Dennis Bouanga giving Saint-Etienne the lead after Neymar's goal was chalked off following a VAR check.

However, a red card for Timothee Kolodziejczak for a foul on Kylian Mbappe saw the pendulum swing the way of the Parisian side, with Marquinhos heading home an equaliser from the resulting free-kick.

Lionel Messi was the provider for all three goals, feeding Di Maria with just 11 minutes remaining as Saint-Etienne's resistance was finally broken.

Young English goalkeeper Etienne Green made a number of saves to deny the visitors, but was helpless to deny the Argentine from close-range.

Brazil defender Marquinhos rounded off the scoring in stoppage time, after Neymar had been replaced by youngster Eric Ebimbe.
