BBC The One Shows Alex Jones shades Paul Giamatti about misfit
Everyone was in stitches

If there's one TV host who has an inimitable style of presenting it has to be The One Show's Alex Jones who's been at it again with her distinct turn of phrasing, leaving The One Show guests guffawing in disbelief. This time, the subject of Alex's one-of-a-kind questioning was Hollywood star and recent Golden Globe winner, Paul Giamatti, who plays grumpy outsider teacher, Paul Hunham, in The Holdovers.

The green settee guests next to Paul were wondering where Ammanford's Alex was going with her questioning of Paul - also known for his roles in Sideways, Billions and Fred Claus - when she started off saying: "He's deeply unstylish, he's a body odour problem, sweaty palms," laughing could already be heard in the background from Neil Morrissey, Fay Ripley and James Buckley, who were there to promote new drama Finders Keepers.

And Alex didn't stop there, either, she continued: "Do you know what? The part, he was written especially for you! How does that feel?" To which the studio reacted with laughter and The Inbetweeners star, Buckley, couldn't get over what he was hearing.

Neil Morrissey, Fay Ripley and James Buckley sat and listened to Alex Jones decimate Paul's on-screen counterpart

To be fair, the star took it in good spirits, even chipping in with more ailments and characteristics, that his on-screen counterpart had "trouble with his eye" and "super sweaty palms" and said: "Let me tell you, it's deeply flattering," commenting that the misfit was a "great character to play."

Alex then went on to say "who's laughing now", as Giamatti's turn in The Holdovers bagged him a Golden Globe last week - he chipped in "who's laughing now? The guy who smells like fish!"

The Holdovers also stars Dominic Sessa and Only Murders In the Building's Da'Vine Joy Randolph and charts the days over Christmas a disliked, lonely teacher has to stay at school with the pupils who have nowhere to go. It has won awards at the Golden Globes, the Critics Choice Awards and could be odds on to score Oscar nominations for its cast and screenplay.
