Piers Morgan lashes out at Harry and Meghan as they reach out to
Kate Middleton revealed she has been diagnosed with cancer and is now undergoing preventative chemotherapy in an emotional video released by the future Queen on Friday

Piers Morgan has slammed Meghan and Harry after Kate Middleton announced she has cancer in a heartbreaking video.

The future Queen of England, 42, revealed she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy following her abdominal surgery in an emotional statement released on Friday. Following the shocking news, which has provoked an outpouring of well wishes from around the world, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said they: "wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace."

However, Piers, who famously walked out of the Good Morning Britain studio after refuting claims Meghan was racially abused by the royal family has questioned their message, not least in the wake of reports the Sussexes had suggested it was Kate who expressed "concern" over the colour of their son Archie's skin.

Responding to Meghan and Harry's message to Kate, Piers quipped on X: "Is that the same Kate who they’ve been trashing as a racist?"

There has been little love lost between between the Sussexes, who were reportedly not told about Kate's cancer, and the Cambridges following the release of Harry's book, Spare, in which he hinted his sister-in-law was less than welcoming to Meghan when he introduced her to the family. Meghan also claimed Kate made her cry over an issue with her bridesmaids dresses, but explained the princess sent her flowers afterwards to apologise.

However, it has now been revealed by ITV's royal editor Chris Ship, that the Duke of Sussex "has reached out to his brother", despite the unease between the families. There are some who believe Kate's illness could bring them together as PR expert Ryan McCormick said that while the Sussex's message to Kate was brief, it seems to show a "positive" sign for their relationship with the royals.

He told The Mirror: "The speed for which it came out is positive. The gravity of this situation may be so large that it could melt away long-held grievances. Yes, Meghan and Harry have their faults but, family is family. Their feud could very well end immediately."

Ryan also suggested the Sussexes managed to hit back at some of the cruel speculation surrounding Kate's health, which reached fever pitch before her statement yesterday. He continued: "I think the last part of the Duke & Duchess' statement was intended to rebuke those spreading false stories and rumours about Kate.

"It was also a respectful pea to give the family the space they need." He said while their statement was short, there was likely a reason for it, telling us: "Meghan and Harry's statement was very brief. I thought it could have been more personal and loving but, they may have been advised to keep it short."

Giving his thoughts on William, who is also dealing with his father's cancer diagnosis, Ryan concluded: "This devastating news will likely jolt William into reassessing what he truly values most in life. As cancer grips both his father and wife, The Prince of Wales may hastily reconcile with Harry. Yes they have had their differences but, they probably need each other now more than ever."
