Pilbara Ports see 9% growth in November
Pilbara Ports’ total throughput in November 2024 reached 67 Mt, up 9% from 2023, with increases at Port Hedland and Dampier.
Pilbara Ports recorded a total monthly throughput of 67 Mt in November 2024, marking a 9% increase compared to November 2023.
The Port of Port Hedland was the largest contributor, achieving a monthly throughput of 49.3 Mt, of which 48.8 Mt consisted of iron ore exports. This represents an 8% increase from the previous year. Imports through the Port of Port Hedland totalled 168,216 tonnes, reflecting a 9% decrease compared to November 2023.
Meanwhile, the Port of Dampier delivered a total throughput of 15.2 Mt, a 3% increase from November 2023. Imports through the Port of Dampier amounted to 144,939 tonnes, an increase of 6% year-on-year.
Pilbara Ports attributes fluctuations in throughput to various factors, including changes in market conditions, ongoing port maintenance operations, and the needs of its proponents.
