Pilbara Ports throughput increases 9%

PILBARA Ports handled 67 million tonnes total throughput last month.

Figures posted for November 2024 are a 9% increase on total monthly throughput handled in the same month last year.

The Port of Port Hedland handled 49.3 million tonnes, with iron ore exports accounting for 48.8 million tonnes.

This was an 8% increase compared with the port’s total monthly throughput in November last year.

Imports through Port Hedland totalled 168,216 tonnes, which is a 9% decrease compared with November 2023.

The Port of Dampier handled 15.2 million tonnes in November 2024, which is a 3% increase compared with the same month last year.

Imports through Dampier totalled 144,939 tonnes, which is a 6% increase compared with November 2023.

Pilbara Ports Authority noted several factors influence the fluctuation of throughput, including changes in market conditions, port maintenance operations and proponent needs.
