DOI's Regan Gascoigne reveals he is 'battered and bruised' after nasty fall on the rink

Dancing On Ice's Regan Gascoigne has revealed he is 'battered and bruised' after suffering a nasty fall on the rink during training this week.

The 26-year-old dancer and son of ex England footballer Paul Gascoigne appeared on Tuesday's Lorraine with his partner Karina Manta where he told how he 'went flying and landed on his back'. 

It comes as the ITV show has been overshadowed by fix rows with certain contestants in the series, like Regan and former Strictly pro Brendan Cole, having previous dance experience.

Regan said of his fall: 'One tiny little movement can throw you. It sounds so stupid because it is so slippery but it is so slippery to a point where you're like, you have no control but you genuinely don't.

'Even when you think you know what you're doing and you have the routine in your head... like the other day when we were just on the practice rink, I went flying and landed up on my back literally on something that I had been doing so easily - it just happens.'

Lorraine then asked: 'You have to be absolutely focused all of the time. How is the little body? Is it bruised?

Difficult: Regan said of his fall: 'I went flying and landed up on my back literally on something that I had been doing so easily - it just happens'

Regan replied: 'A little battered and bruised! Both of my knees have always got knee supports on, they're a bit swollen, popped my shoulder out.'

'But you've just got to pick yourself up and go,' Lorraine said back to him.  

Karina added: 'He keeps going - he doesn't want to stop for anything.'

He also addressed the suggestion that he had an unfair advantage due to the fact that he was a dancer amid the fix rows overshadowing the programme.

While Regan said that he does have 'a bit of an advantage', he also said that he needs to 'unlearn things' such as spotting, which is done differently off the ice.

Karina agreed, saying: 'It's a totally different skill.'

Regan also told on the show how he would love to do a reality show with his dad Paul Gascoigne.

The professional dancer, who is the son of former England footballer Gazza, said it would be 'amazing' if he got to film a series with his father.

He said: 'I think it would be so fun, I don't know what's going to happen after this ['Dancing on Ice'], but I think if we did that it's going to be amazing.'

Show host Lorraine replied: 'You've got a great bond and you'd bring out a side of him that maybe people haven't seen before and vice-versa.'
